Dr. Derrick Flint, MD, DDS, is an oral & maxillofacial surgeon in Austin, TX and is a native Texan from Canton. Dr. Flint graduated from Austin College in Sherman, TX with honors before attending medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. After receiving his medical degree in 2004, Dr. Flint completed his general surgery internship at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, NY. Dr. Flint then practiced medicine in New York while attending dental school at Columbia University where he completed his second doctoral degree, his DDS (Doctor of Dental Surgery). After obtaining his dental degree, Dr. Flint completed residency training in oral and maxillofacial surgery and anesthesia at the University of California, San Francisco and a fellowship in cosmetic and cleft lip and palate surgery. Dr. Flint takes pride in offering full scope oral and maxillofacial surgery with the latest advances in the specialty. Dr. Flint has received several honors during his career. Among the many awards he received was the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons Dental Implant Student Award, for outstanding achievement related to the placement of dental implants. He has presented to his colleagues at several medical and dental conferences during his career, and has also been a tutor for other students. Dr. Flint is committed to improving the lives of as many people as possible. He demonstrated his commitment by volunteering for medical trips to underserved communities. His first trip was with Health Care International Medical Outreach Mission. He traveled to Jamaica to help provide surgical and medical care for remote communities in the mountains of Jamaica. Additionally, he travelled with Smiles International to Tecate, Mexico, to offer his expertise in cleft lip and palate repair surgery to children who would otherwise lack access to this care. Dr. Flint is a local Rotarian and active member of the Austin-Oak Hill Rotary Club. Through his charitable action, Dr. Flint has changed the lives of many. Dr. Flint lives in Austin and enjoys a variety of outdoor activities, including hiking, fishing, camping, diving, and sailing. Dr. Flint enjoys connecting with his patients, many of whom also enjoy the opportunities for outdoor recreation that the Austin area offers.
